The group develops two public databases on behalf of the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR) Committee on Receptor Nomenclature and Drug Classification (NC-IUPHAR) and the British Pharmacological Society. The IUPHAR Database (IUPHAR-DB) provides in-depth, expert-curated information on biological targets, including receptors, ion channels and enzymes. The Guide to PHARMACOLOGY provides summaries of the key properties of a wider range of targets, along with guidelines and educational resources for pharmacologists and scientists from other disciplines who wish to widen their understanding of pharmacology.

We provide tools and resources via these two websites to support research and education in pharmacology and drug discovery. We are interested in all aspects of biocuration and biological database management, including data citation and provenance.

Group members: PI: Jamie Davies. Members: Joanna Sharman (database developer), Adam Pawson (senior curator), Helen Benson (curator), Elena Faccenda (curator), Christopher Southan (chemical curator) and Veronika Divincova (project administrator).
