Our research specialises in studying the regulation of neural form and function at the molecular level. Much of our work has focused on studying the roles of transcription factors in the development and patterning of nervous systems from basic neurogenesis through to area specialisation and axonal navigation.

More recent work has moved into the domain of regulatory genomics where primary miRNA, mRNA, protein expression data is integrated with a host of genomic meta-data and prior biological knowledge to build an integrated understanding of the underlying biological processes. At a higher level we are applying this systems level molecular view to understanding the regulatory processes controlling synaptic plasticity in neurological disease models and paradigms of learning, memory and cognition.
